The Grappa e Neve competition was created in 1997 in Cervinia, Aosta Valley, from the creativity of a group of bartenders who, between skis and shakers, came up with a truly unique format: a competition combining ski runs and cocktail creation, with Grappa as the star ingredient.
The original idea was for competitors to prepare three Grappa-based cocktails at the end of the slalom, still wearing their skis. For years, the event brought the winter season to a close, becoming a moment of gathering, celebration and sharing for the bartender community.
After a pause following the passing of one of its founders, in 2018 several members of the AIBES Valle d’Aosta section relaunched the event, immediately attracting 45 participants. In 2019, thanks to the support of companies and sponsors, the competition grew even further.
The 2020 and 2021 editions were suspended due to the pandemic. In 2022 and 2023, the event was revived in Champoluc, with more than 50 competitors from all over Italy.
In 2024, the edition scheduled to take place in Courmayeur was cancelled due to extraordinary snowfall.
Competition Format
Each competitor will present an original cocktail containing at least 3 cl of Grappa, with complete freedom in the choice of the other ingredients.
To date, more than 150 bartenders from all regions of Italy have already verbally confirmed their participation.
2026 Edition – Tuesday, March 17
The 2026 edition, under the patronage of the Municipality of Torgnon, will once again take place at Alpe Gorzà, confirming an exclusive location with a strong sense of identity.
2026 Theme: Futurism
The new edition will be inspired by Futurism, the historical period between 1910 and 1940, during which Grappa was used in mixology to strengthen Vermouth and aperitif liqueurs.
This theme will guide tastings and convivial moments, offering companies a strong and distinctive cultural storytelling opportunity.
The 2025 Edition
The chosen location was the striking Alpe Gorzà in Torgnon, Aosta Valley, accessible exclusively by snowmobile.
The event proved to be a success in every respect, thanks to:
- the high number of participating bartenders;
- the outstanding quality of the drinks presented;
- the strong presence of sponsoring companies;
- significant national visibility through social networks and trade press.
The objective was fully achieved: to bring Grappa back to the forefront, while enhancing creativity, territory and the identity of the community.
